How New Zealand’s latest lockdown disrupted people’s lives.

Where did it all go wrong?

After seemingly conquering the initial COVID19 outbreak with strict level 4 lockdown procedures, life in New Zealand looked to be on the rise.

Businesses were open again, shops running as per usual, children back at school, life had returned to some sort of normality.

And then boom!

Out of nowhere, a second wave hit, lockdown restrictions were reinstated thus flinging New Zealand back into the ‘hellhole’ it once was.

An emergency government announcement.

When news broke that lockdown restrictions were to return to New Zealand it sent shock waves throughout the country.

“Life had more or less returned to normal, we had overcome the beast and were doing our best to salvage what was left of 2020.”

But on Wednesday 11th August, around 10.00 pm, an emergency government announcement was made.

After 102 days ‘virus-free’, New Zealand had once again been infected.

Four new cases were discovered in Auckland, and with no obvious direct route to the source of the outbreak, drastic measures had to be taken to…
