Today marks the eighteenth anniversary of the September 11th attacks in New York, where it’s estimated that around 2977 people were killed and over 6000 injured.

(I’m aware that it may not be September 11th just yet where you are, but at the time of publication it is here, in New Zealand)

On that fateful day, thousands of people’s lives were changed forever.

And not just for the lives of the injured or deceased but also for their friends, families and loved ones.

For the emergency services and members of the public who helped to save so many people that day, their lives can’t have been the same again ever since those horrible events.

I’m not gonna even try and imagine how everyone involved must have felt that day or attempt to discuss how they could have dealt with the aftermath of such events.

I wasn’t there, so how can I relate?

But I will say this.

Take a look around now and be thankful for what you have.

Be thankful for the people around you.

Be thankful that you have a roof over your head, that you have access to food and water.
