Are You Too Lazy to Become a Successful Writer?

I certainly am and something’s got to change.

Every night, after my evening meal, I sit down in my favourite pale timber and navy cushioned reclining chair, set a steaming cup of golden brown English tea on the rainbow coloured makeshift table beside me, pull out my grimy, fingerprint smeared smartphone and begin to read.

I read the news — local and international — to get a grasp on current affairs. Afterwards, I check in on the sports world — mainly soccer and MMA —to catch up on the latest goings-on in the English Premier League and the UFC. Then, as a grand finale to the evening’s routine, a visit to my favourite reading and writing platform — Medium — to indulge in a variety of stories, views and opinions from my fellow Medium writers.

It’s a daily ritual I’ve come to love and one of the best ways I’ve found to unwind after a busy day.

However, as I kick back like a king on his throne and appease my curiosity for knowledge with a plethora of articles, opinion pieces and stories, the same thought trickles through my mind like a stream navigating the jungle.

It’s a mishmashed thought of both jealousy and frustration.

Because, as I read the work of others and lose myself in their talents, it becomes clear…
