After the tragic events that happened here in New Zealand yesterday — thoughts going out to the people of Christchurch — it’s important not to get caught slipping as you go about your daily routines.
Most of us live in a relatively safe environment so it is easy to let your guard down and not pay attention to what is going on around you.
Add in the addictiveness of cell phones as it seems people can’t even walk down the street without having their nose buried in them. A distraction in our day to day lives.
With so many distractions and us being used to a safe environment, it is easy for people to take advantage of that. To catch you off guard and impose their will upon you. Whether it be to strip you of your possessions. Perhaps land a sucker punch. Or something much much worse.
We have to keep our wits about us when we venture past the safety of our own front door.
What can you do to stay safe in the street?
The easiest thing to do as you go about your day is to remove any unnecessary distractions the main one being cell phones.
We are all wrapped up in our own little bubble. If we aren’t staring at the LED screen — or whatever it’s made from — then we have the earbuds in listening to music or whatever floats your boat. Totally…
