Don’t Publish Your Writing Just For the Sake of It

How many times have you been so eager to hit that publish button and send some new content out into the digital world that you’ve rushed through a piece and put no real-time or effort into it just so you could have something to populate your profile portfolio?

I’m sure we’re all guilty of it. I certainly am.

But what happens when you do that?

Yeah, you get that little blast of dopamine when you hit the publish button. A rush from adding a new piece to your profile. Then there’s the feeling of self-satisfaction that comes from being somewhat productive and putting out content to stay consistent as you work your way towards achieving your writing goals.

However, those feelings of joy are usually shortlived and soon after come the feelings of angst.

Back and forth you go between the stats page, your profile and the newsfeed.

“Has anyone read my piece yet? How many views has it gotten now? How many claps? Maybe I’ll just have another quicjk look. I hope someone has left me a comment. I wonder how much money this piece will make?”

The questions start taking over your mind. The constant checking for updates interferes with your day. A rollercoaster ride of emotions flows through your body.
