Ed Sheeran: From Sleeping Rough to Global Superstar

Nowadays, Edward Christopher Sheeran aka Ed Sheeran is known as one of the most famous pop stars in the world.

With an estimated net worth of $200 million, sold-out tours around the world and over 150 million records sold, it’s fair to say Ed Sheeran is living the life of his and many other young singer’s dreams.

But life for Ed hasn’t always been glamorous.

As a young busker and up-and-coming artist, it’s reported that Ed spent many a night sleeping rough.

In past interviews, Sheeran has revealed that between 2008-2010 he didn’t have a place to live and spent time between gigs sleeping on trains, crashing on friends couches and even spending nights in an archway outside of Buckingham Palace; which had a heating duct to keep warm.

Luckily for Ed though all the hard work, tough nights and busking paid off and in January 2011, he was signed to Atlantic Records. Five months later he released his first hit single ‘The A Team’ which sold over 800,000 copies (58,000 in the first week). From there it was no turning back and his career has been going from…
