How I’ve Been Building a Consistent Writing Routine
SITTING DOWN TO WRITE isn’t always as easy as it sounds. For one, you’ve got your mind running overtime. Question after question on a never-ending loop.
What will I write about? How will I put my message across?
What’s the best approach to ensure the readers get what I’m trying to say?
Is this story even worth writing?
Then you’ve got the added hurdle of procrastination to overcome — which has always been my biggest self-enemy.
Mix those two challenges together then add in the little inconvenience they call life and getting started with any writing project can sometimes seem damn near impossible.
However, over the past few weeks I’ve been experimenting with a technique to get myself going and build a consistent writing habit and so far, it seems to be working.
Tricking Your Mind
Ok, so before I go on, I know this isn’t a new miraculous discovery and that this technique is well known and practiced throughout the writing community. But it’s one that I have recently reintroduced to my writing process and have been enjoying positive results from so I thought I’d share it.
