How to Resist Temptation While on Pursuit of Your Goals
At the beginning of the month, I set myself a challenge — check it out here — to refrain from drinking alcohol for the entirety of October.
So far, things have been going great and not to sound too cocky or anything, but I’ve found keeping off of the booze relatively easy if I’m being honest — which I always am 😁.
However, that’s not to say there hasn’t been a few temptations along the way.
With covid restrictions easing here in New South Wales, Australia, and pubs/bars reopening, the temptation to join in and take advantage of the returned freedoms has been strong. Seeing images on local media of residents enjoying a few pints, laughing and joking with friends and having what seems to be a bloody good time has been intriguing, but I’ve remained strong.
On the back of that, there’s also been the added pressure of people asking me to come for a drink with them, to join in on the celebrations, to which I’ve also politely declined.
Then of course there have been those days when the stresses of life lay it on hard and all I’ve wanted to do is kick back with a drink to decompress. But again, I’ve stood my ground.
