I Feel Like I’ve Hit a Plateau In Life
Sometimes you have to draw a line in the sand before you make a change in life.
Stumbling along the back end of my 30s while moving ever closer towards the big 4 0 has brought with it a number of life realisations, all of which can be summed up in one simple sentence.
I’ve hit a plateau in life, I’m headed in no real direction anymore and things need to change.
Over the past 10-15 years, my life has always had some direction.
At 24 years old, I moved from Northern Ireland to Australia. Then, after a year, I moved to New Zealand, where I spent the next 9 years.
During that time, my focus was on building a life for myself in a new country. Then, my attention was directed towards family life, having settled down with my partner and having a kid together.
But over the past few years, I’ve hit a plateau.
Yes, I still have the family life to tend to, learn from and grow, but outside of that, everything else has become stagnant.
Not much has changed in my work life. I’ve reached a point now where I am comfortable and there isn’t much room for growth it seems.
