I have also done this on my phone and it's made a huge difference regarding my concentration levels.

Another tip that helped me was hiding all social media apps from the home screen of my phone. Not seeing them each time I picked it up reduced the time I spent aimlessly scrolling through mundane news feeds - out of sight, out of mind as the saying goes.
