I Think Medium Has Finally Broke Me

And it’s time to take a step away from the platform.

I’ve been writing on Medium since 2018. I was here when claps earned 💲💲💲, publications were a big deal and curation actually meant something.

I’ve stuck around even as others where leaving, algorithms were changing and views, reads and earnings were dropping. 📉

But now, I’m ready to go.

Over the past week or so my drive and inspiration to write on Medium has been non-existent. I just can’t be fucked putting in the effort required to keep things ticking over only for the end of the month to roll around and receive fuck all rewards. 🤷‍♂️

Yes, I enjoy the writing process; hitting the publish button still gives me a dopamine rush. But I’m finding it hard to justify all the time and energy put in for the minimal results.

Add on top of that the same old topics being recycled throughout my recommended reads feed and it makes for an easy decision (to go elsewhere). 👋

In Moving Forward

Of course, in taking some time away from Medium it means I’m gonna have to look for a new outlet for my creative side. Somewhere to jot down my thoughts from time to time whenever the need arises. ✍
