I think there is a way to do both — though I am not currently working this way. You could always try pushing out some shorter articles, 2min reads etc. while in the background be working on a larger piece, one that you have put more time, effort and thought into.

I’ve found the hardest part of trying to work this way is finding the time. Trying to write as much as possible while also tending to lives other responsibilities can be tricky but all we can do is our best.
