I too once got hooked on the drug that is stat checking.

Toward the beginning of my Medium journey, I had the same optimism as you and even indulged in some daydreaming of how Medium was gonna change my life.

But, disappointment after disappoinment soon takes it’s toll and slowly eats away at your enthusiasm.

Over the years I’ve come and gone from Medium. I’m back and enjoying it now, but no doubt there will come a time when I take another break.

What I’ve learned from writing on Medium is to lose all expectations and just have fun.

If an article ‘hits’, gets curated or goes viral, enjoy the achievement for a minute then keep moving forward.

To me, Medium is simply a tool to aid my writing/creative journey.

If, for some unforeseen reason, my success on this platform ‘blows-up' then so be it, if not it is what it is.

I hope you don’t give up writing completely here and can learn to enjoy the platform for what it is.
