Ignore Your Daily Earnings and Just Write — You’ll Feel Much Better for It

It’s time to focus on what really matters.

I don’t know about you but the introduction of daily earnings reports to Medium at the end of 2019 has been the cause of some very stressful times for me.

There have been days when I’ve written what I would consider to be some of my better work, done a great job of promoting it — if I do say so myself — had the piece receive a ton of feedback and reader interaction and I’ve been feeling pretty damn good about something which I had created only for the daily earnings reports to take the wind right out of my sails.

Previously, when the earnings report was once weekly, of course, there were still bad weeks and pieces that underperformed to my expectations, but at least you were only being reminded of it once per week.

It was easy to read the earnings, get pissed off for an hour or two then set about putting things right for the following week.

And yes, it could be said that the same approach can be applied to the new system but for amateur writers such as myself, where the daily earnings are usually on the low side, seeing small insignificant progress being made day by day can become pretty damn disheartening.
