I'm currently listening to an audiobook about Marcus Aurelius and in it is mentioned the purple robes and how he liked to break luxuries down to what they really where so as not to become infatuated with them.

I found it interesting that they discovered certain containers worked best when creating the purple dye due to shape and how much light they allowed in etc. Very smart thinking.
