I’ve Got Less Than a Week Left to Prepare

But I’m excited about the challenge.

You know how people say;

“Stepping out of your comfort zone is the best way to grow"

(Some quotes have become quite annoying these days, even if they are true.)

Anyway, come Sunday, 1st September — Father’s Day in New Zealand F.Y.I — I will be well a d truly ‘out of my comfort zone’.

For only last week — after a few days of healthy eating, lifting some weights and with the return of my fitness buzz — I signed myself up for a 19km off-road, trail race.

And while this isn’t a new experience for me, having run numerous trail runs in the past, it will prove to be quite a physical and mental challenge, especially after the events of the weekend past.

As mentioned above, when I decided to sign up for this event I was feeling good, my confidence was high — perhaps a little on the cocky side, if I'm being honest — and being as I had completed such events in the past, was in the mindset that I could just jump back in where I’d left off.

So, with only eleven days’ notice, I filled in the online requirements and enrolled in the race, completely ignoring that the last time I had done any kind of proper…
