Anyone who has created and published a few pieces here on Medium will know what I mean.
There are times when you put so much effort into creating a masterpiece. You write, read, re-read, edit and adjust your work for hours until you finally have it ‘perfect’. Looking and sounding just how you want it.
You have chosen the perfect image, the title is genius yet informative. You add the final tags and hit that publish button. This is going to be your best piece yet!
Fast forward five hours and you have a look at the stats — oh the stats — and what do you see? Nine views, three reads and zero fans.
But, wait, what? Seriously? Is that it? How can this be? Questions and confusion run through your mind along with a little disappointment.
You put so much time and effort into that piece, how could it perform so poorly? I guess it’s back to the drawing board.
So in order to keep the momentum going and keep those good habits flowing you sit down to write your next piece.
As you do the performance of the previous article is still playing on your mind, perhaps distracting you a little from giving the new piece your full attention.
