Raising a toddler truly is a mind game.
My son is almost three and I’ve experienced some of the situations you mentioned above, mainly when it comes to him not getting his own way.
I’ve been using similar methods to what you have mentioned in ways of dealing with these episodes, mainly letting them cry it out until they have finished and then speaking to them like a normal human being, which seems to be working.
It’s no easy task and requires a lot of patience but I think you’ve got to play the long game with these things and over time, as they learn, it becomes easier.
