Sometimes You Just Gotta Walk in The Rain
As I type these very words my mind is torn.
You see, I have set myself a goal of hitting the gym at least three times per week and today is one of those scheduled days.
Ok, so what’s the problem?
Well, at the minute, as I look out my window it’s lashing rain and as I have no mode of transport other than by foot, it means I’ve got a decision to make.
I can either reside here, in the warmth and comfort of my home, sipping coffee, kicking back and coming up with a reasonable excuse as to why I had to miss a gym day.
Or, I can lace up my running shoes, pull on a jacket and brave the miserable weather to attend my workout.
Hmmmm, looks like I’m gonna get wet.
In life there are always going to be reasons why you seemingly can’t pursue your goals. There are always going to be distractions, deterrents and obstacles standing in your way.
And it’s easy to let yourself off the hook. Come up with an excuse as to why not and make believe the choice was out of your control.
But taking the easy way out isn’t going to do you any favours — for the most part.
On occasion, in order to progress, you just have to ignore your body’s call for comfort and push on through the unpleasantness or pain.
Because sometimes in life, to get to where you’re going and to achieve your goals, you just gotta walk in the rain.
