There I was, sat on the couch, alone in a dimly lit living room of my rented three-bedroom home in East Auckland, girlfriend and kids asleep, face lit up from the glare of my laptop — which I’d been staring at for what seemed like forever — weighing up the pros and cons.

“Should I? Will it be worth my while? What if it’s just another waste of time and money… Fuck it.”

And with a sharp inhale of breath, I clicked left on the mouse pad, thus marking the beginning of my Medium ‘adventure’.

Struggling to shift through the gears.

Medium for me has been a rollercoaster ride of emotions.

There have been ups and downs, loop-de-loops, joy, despair and a few mechanical malfunctions along the way.

There have been times where I’ve been able to smash out multiple pieces per day and others where it’s been a struggle just to produce a piece per week.

But this is to be expected, it’s all part of the journey.
