The Paradox of Choice Leads to Choice Paralysis

Is simplicity the key to progression?

Two-hundred and twenty draft ideas and f*ck all to write about. That doesn’t even make sense?

There are so many options yet it seems impossible to choose one.

Is this a good problem to have? — it doesn’t feel great. In fact, it feels like there is something wrong.

Surely having these many choices should be a good thing, right? An abundance of options to choose from.

Turns out it’s more of a hindrance than a help.

“Are you brave enough to do it? Have you got the balls?”

Staring at the screen of my laptop, its glow burning into my retinas as I scroll aimlessly up and down the list of potential writing ideas and all I can think is;

“What’s the point of having such a long list of ideas if none of them sparks my interest and intrigues me to write? Maybe I should just delete the whole damn lot?”

The same thing happens at restaurants — though, the option to delete the menu isn’t available— there’s too much choice.

I end up spending thirty minutes reading, then re-reading the menu, in a vicious daydream as if stuck in Groundhog Day, only to order the steak as per usual — rare of
