Raising children is no walk in the park.

They can be selfish. Unreasonable. Demanding. Irrational. Unnegotiable. Angry. Messy. Loud. Irritable.… the list goes on.

Not the type of person you would usually choose to hang out with.

But the love for these little ‘barbarians’ is unbreakable.

As a parent, you put up with so much and at times you may even wonder why?

They say it gets easier as they get older, though results are still to be confirmed on that one.

So, in order to raise these ‘wild’ beings, at least until the age of reason — whenever that maybe — you must learn some skills to keep yourself semi-sane and one step back from the edge.

A Mind of Steel

To prevent yourself some snapping under the pressure of these emotionally intelligent creatures it is imperative that you develop a mind like a steel trap.

You’re going to need to be quick thinking, adaptable and mentally impenetrable.

For although these ‘kids’ — as they are sometimes referred — may be small, they are ruthless. They know your every weakness and will not hesitate to exploit them for their own advantage.
