The World Feels Almost Normal Again
As I walked home from the gym this morning, with the sun shining and birds singing in the sky, I couldn’t help but smile.
Because, all around me, everywhere I looked the world felt almost normal again.
There were kids playing in the parks again; running, jumping screaming and laughing. The bigger kids, crazy as they are, could be seen doing jumps and twists and flips in the skate park; testing the limits of their skateboards, scooters and their parents' nervous systems.
In the distance on the grass pitches, a game of cricket was in progress. Two teams dressed all in white, bowling and smashing and catching a rock-solid red ball — whatever floats your boat I suppose. (Joking 🤣). Their competitive yells filled the air.
Along the path in which I walked; fellow fitness fanatics passed me by. There were runners, cyclists and even roller skaters out in force enjoying the good weather and loving life.
Across the road, there is an industrial estate. Outside the local mechanic's garage, stood a group of guys admiring their vehicles; looking under the hoods, pointing, talking and obviously sharing a passion for automobiles.
Yes, this morning as I walked home from the gym everything was A-OK and the world almost felt normal again.
Of course, we aren’t out of the woods just yet, with some countries still dealing with the chaos of covid.
But for now, I’m going to appreciate the small things in life and cross my arms, legs, fingers and toes that the good times continue.
