At least two to three times per week I actively seek out and engage in physical altercations with other members of the public, both male and female.

No, I’m not a crazed psychopath roaming the streets of Auckland searching for my next victim.

However, I do train in the art of Krav Maga.

So, yea, at least two to three times per week myself and the other ‘psychopaths’ meet at an underground car park (where the gym is located) to test ourselves and learn how to defend against various ‘real world’ style attacks.

There are No Rules

The origins of Krav Maga stretch back to the 1930s when Imi Lichtenfeld, a Hungarian-Israeli martial artist combined his experiences of street fighting with his skills as a boxer and a wrestler to better defend himself and the Jewish community from fascists groups in Czechoslovakia.

Nowadays Krav Maga is better known for being the primary hand-to-hand combat style taught to and used by the Israel Defence Force and Israeli security forces.
