Writing on Medium can consist of one confusing experience after another.

I’ve been publishing my work here for around seventeen months and I still haven’t got a clue what’s going on half the time.

But it is what it is, you just have to keep on doing your best and rolling with the punches — and there are a lot of them.

One such ‘punch’ that you have to learn to come to terms with on this platform is the unpredictability that comes with the performance of your writing.

And by that, I mean the time and effort put into creating a piece is rarely reflected in the views, reads, claps and earnings which you receive for your work.

Hard Work Doesn’t Always Pay Off

You’ve taken your time, carefully selecting a topic which you’d like to expand upon. Something that means a lot to you, or that you have a vast knowledge about, maybe even an event that has caught your eye in your day to day life.
