Why You Should Focus on Your Own Success
You’re a victim of human nature.
It’s not your fault, it’s just the way you’ve been ‘wired’.
You’ve set yourself goals and you’re making excellent progress towards achieving them, but you’re still not happy.
You feel like you should be further along than you are.
And why do you feel this way?
Because it’s human nature to compare ourselves to those around us.
Forget about what others are doing.
Comparing yourself to those around you can have a devastating effect on your own personal performance.
To say that we should never check out the progress of others is an unreasonable statement to make.
There is nothing wrong with having a little curiosity about other people’s successes — it can even have a positive effect if you can take inspiration from it.
The main problem can come when you discover someone who has, seemingly, surpassed you on the road towards their goals — especially if you realize they started at a slightly later date than you.
