Writing on My Phone Helps Me Stay Consistent
When it comes to writing everyone has their own styles, techniques, rituals, preferences and processes.
Some like listening to music when they write. Others require dead silence. There are writers who like to work outdoors or in public. While others prefer the privacy of their own home. Then there are those who like to pre-plan their masterpieces. Whereas others work best writing in the moment.
My writing quirk is I like to write using my phone. I like writing on my phone because it’s convenient.
After all, I always have my phone on me. It’s rarely more than a meter or two from my person. So, throughout the day, whenever I get a minute free, I’m able to pull out my phone and work on my latest piece. Adding new sentences, paragraphs or ideas whilst on the go.
Another reason I like to write using my phone is speed and comfort.
I grew up in the age of texting. I remember my very first mobile phone, it had buttons — yes real buttons, no touch screen. I got so used to texting that I was able to send a message without looking while the phone was still in my pocket — a handy skill for the classroom.
